What’s up my stylish loves? It is so nice to finally meet you. I’m Cathy Lee, and I’m about to take you on a whirlwind of not just immense style but of the culture, diversity and stories that are embedded in each outfit. Fashion is such a special thing. It holds so much more meaning than the tangible product and the aesthetic, and I’m so excited to share this with you and also learn from you as well.
Before I get too ahead of myself let me give you a little spiel on my background. I’m originally from suburban Atlanta, and I moved a whole hour away from my parents to be the strong, independent college adult I thought I was ready to be in Athens, Georgia, the home of the University of Georgia. If all goes well, I will graduate on time in two years with a degree in fashion merchandising, a degree in marketing and a certificate in entrepreneurship. I’m crossing my fingers. When I’m not involved in fashion related activities, I can be found giving my friends the same advice they didn’t listen to the last time I told them, attending community service events around campus with my sorority sisters, fawning over cute animals on my feed and dropping everything and dancing whenever I hear the beat drop.
The qualities I’ve curated within myself that I’m the most proud of are my confidence, genuineness, perfectionism and twinge of crazy. What I love about fashion is that I can showcase all these attributes non-verbally through it. I used to be really shy and self-conscious, but when I was too scared to use my voice to demand attention and exposure, I used fashion as a vice instead. They were not just clothes I wore, but it became a part of who I was, am and am still becoming.
Through my articles I hope to relay the stories of my subjects and relate fashion back to the world around you and me. Keep on stylin’ on Fashionistas/os. See you soon!
