Hello to all Fashionista(o)s out there! My name is Chioma Ikpe (Chi for short) and I am a sophomore at Penn State University (We Are!) where I am a communications major with an artistic entrepreneurship minor. I am originally from a small town in Northern New Jersey about 25 minutes from New York so I pretty much am in the city at least a couple times a month to go shopping (usually more depending on how “empty” my closet is), to get brunch or to just bask in the beauty that is NYC! As soon as I graduate college I am moving to the city to start working on my career ambition of being in public relations for fashion companies.
Ever since I was little, fashion has been my obsession. Whether it was reading magazines and wanting to wear the clothes in Vogue that were a little too old for my eight-year-old self, or making clothes for my American Girl Dolls so they were always up to date with the latest trends. I never really grew out of that phase seeing as I am now a 19-year-old reading Vogue and wanting to wear ball gowns even though I have no galas to attend and now instead of dressing up my dolls, I am always dressing up my friends.
I definitely like to experiment with my style. I switch things frequently but my main style could be described as boho chic. I love eccentric, boho items, and growing up, I was lucky enough to travel a lot and loved collecting pieces from around the country and the world. If I am not traveling, I am shopping on foreign websites to add to my collection. However, I still like modern and chic items that you would see on Fifth Avenue. When I am not racking up my credit card bill shopping, you can find me with kombucha in my hand stalking Pinterest and Instagram, or traveling to new destinations (close and far) that I can add to my “Been There, Done That” list.
Fashion is everywhere around us, not just in stores. As Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” I get my inspiration from everywhere and I am excited to be able to share that inspiration with all of you!
In this look, I was going to NYC, so i decided to mix my go-to pieces with a classy, dressed up look. I am wearing my go-to black ripped jeans, western belt, and my comfy yet cute black suede knee high boots. I love dressing up for any occasion so I decided to throw on a black cropped sweater with a white duster vest! For my accessories I just chose my everyday gold necklaces, a gold bangle, a wrap-around Druzy bracelet and my rings!
