Hello everyone! My name is Christina, and I am so excited to be part of the summer 2015 CollegeFashionista Style Guru team. I thought this would be a great opportunity and a fun experience to help further my fashion career!
I am 20 years old and a junior Fashion Merchandising student at the University of Akron in Akron, OH. I am also minoring in Marketing and Sales Technology and would love to do something with public relations as well. I was born and raised in North Olmsted, OH, a suburb outside of the Cleveland area, and have lived there my entire life. When I began high school, I realized I wanted nothing more than to pursue a career in fashion. I have always been a huge girly girl and have a major weak spot for designer handbags. One of my favorite additions to any outfit is a cute purse or clutch. I love my hot pink Michael Kors cross-body bag! It is bright and bold for the summer and just the right size to fit all of my necessities—the perfect way to complete any outfit!
I find almost all of my style inspiration from fashion magazines, online clothing websites and retail store window displays. I am a sales associate at The Limited, a women’s clothing company, which has helped me develop my own sense of style. Working for this company has helped me grow in so many ways and gives me confidence that I will make it in the fashion industry. Right now, my favorite piece for the summer is a fun dress. I feel very comfortable in dresses and find them to be an easy outfit to put together. In my photo, I am sporting an H&M black and white chevron printed dress—one of my favorite go-to outfits because I can wear it with just about anything! I am a huge jewelry lover and a firm believer in finishing off an outfit with a glam statement necklace. It can transform a simple, casual outfit into something much more stylish.
I can’t forget about shoes! My favorite choice for the summer right now are my BCBGeneration black and gold gladiator sandals. They can go with any of my outfits, whether I am running errands or going out at night with my friends. There is nothing better than a nice pair of sandals that are not only comfortable but stylish, too!
My plan after college is to move to New York City, Chicago or Columbus. My dream job is to work for a designer handbag company, but I would not mind working for a clothing company, either. I am interested in product development, retail buying, public relations and marketing and sales. I look forward to seeing where this career takes me, and I cannot wait to become even more knowledgeable on everything fashion related.
I am so excited to start my journey with CollegeFashionista, and I think it will make me an even better fashion student at the University of Akron! Please “RAD” my articles each week if you like them!
