Hey, Fashionistas/os! My name is Christina Wong and I’m thrilled to start off my sophomore year at the Fashion Institute of Technology as a CollegeFashionista Style Guru. I’m currently a Fashion Merchandising major at FIT with hopes of becoming a buyer or stylist.
Style is what I use to express myself. I know that sounds cliche, but truth be told, that’s what I believe. I use style to create confidence, and because I’m a quiet student, I try to have what I’m wearing speak a little about me.
Now, what is my personal style? To be honest with you, I don’t think I have just one. I’ve been told I’m sort of a style chameleon, changing to adapt to new situations. I can range from flirty to professional to edgy; it all depends on how I want to feel that day. How I want the world to perceive me and how I want to come off to the world is what I base my outfit choice on.
I would say this look is a good example of my personal style. I kept a rugged feel with a faux leather jacket and distressed boyfriend jeans. To keep this look casual and suitable for everyday wear, I took this graphic T-shirt from Paris and added a little flare by tying it up for some shape. Finally to dress it up, I counteracted the baggy silhouette with these studded pumps and a sleek clutch.
On Instagram, I was always that girl posting #OOTDS. However, it wasn’t until I met my friend Zoe my first year at FIT that I decided to get serious about creating a name. She pushed me to start a Youtube Channel (which I had been thinking about doing but never had the confidence to) and through that, I created a separate Instagram and Tumblr page for my content called “The Wong Project.”
I’m so excited to show you what FIT and New York City campuses have to offer this fall!
