Hello fellow fashion freaks! My name is Christy Connors and I am a Fashion Business major and Public Relations minor at Columbia College Chicago, and I obviously have a thing for alliterations. I am pumped to be a Style Guru for the summer of 2015! Summer is full of creativity and possibility for style. Capturing the sense of freedom that comes with summer is something I look forward to sharing with all of you.
As for my personal style, I would say it’s polished, minimal and versatile. I like to keep things simple, so for the right occasions I can get glammed up and really stand out. I’m always saving new outfit ideas for a special day. On any average day I still like to look fashionable but in a minimalistic sort of way. My go-to everyday look is a pair of jeans, a simple top and a cute pair of booties. I use my accessories to transform the look into a completely new one.
The history of fashion for me started in my elementary years. I always had a thing for clothes, shopping, styling and even designing. In the third grade I was wearing heeled black boots everyday. In seventh grade I wore a tutu over my jeans to school (in hindsight, big mistake). In eighth grade I wore a big headpiece to the end of the year dance. I’m actually still impressed with how different that looked. Every experience I have had with fashion has led me to right now. I’m pursuing a career in fashion and being a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista is just the beginning, but what an amazing beginning it is.
This summer will definitely be one to remember. Columbia College is host to many styles, and it will be a pleasure to share all of my favorite looks with you. As for now, I’ll leave you with this Annie quote to keep you fashionably inspired throughout the week: “You’re never fully dressed without a smile.”
