Hello there, fashionistas! My name is Christy Ha and I’m super excited to be here for you all. While I would love to get to know my readers and about how their styles are inspired, first, here is a little bit about me.
Originally from Hong Kong, I’ve spent most of my childhood there before moving to the great and wonderful New York. Although I am from Long Island and not Manhattan, I have definitely still spent enough of my time emerged in New York City to be influenced by the arts, styles and cultures of its streets. From the elegant styles of the Upper East Side to the Boho feel of Soho, I have an outfit to fit each occasion. Currently, I am a sophomore at the University of California, Los Angeles as a Communication Studies major. Being in L.A. is definitely a change for me, but I like to think I am making it work! I love the atmosphere of L.A., the City of Angels is where everyone seems happy and to be enjoying the most out of life. L.A. has no doubt added a more care-free style into my repertoire, and to be honest, I’m loving it!
My fashion sense is influenced by my surroundings, so walking the streets and seeing how other people dress is one of my favorite pastimes. But mainly, what I wear depends on my mood. My personal style has a wide range, reaching from the “I Know What I’m Doing” days where I sport classy, elegant blouses and dresses, to the “Looking Cute but Feeling Comfy” days where I’d usually go for a more indie, thrift shop vibe, and those “Effortlessly Cool” days with a splash of Californian feel where a muscle tank and denim shorts will always be a staple and many more. I am constantly adjusting my personal style as I become more exposed to different cultures. So I welcome you guys to come on this journey with me for the next semester through my posts.
Today, I was feeling girly so I went for a plain black skirt paired with a striped sweater to match the winter chill of Manhattan and a colorful scarf for a popping contrast against the black and white outfit. As for shoes, I chose a pair of classic combat boots with some knitted knee-high socks for extra warmth. For accessories, I had on my abalone shell ring and a bracelet handmade from a vintage key with a dark leather strap.
I am really looking forward to this semester with CollegeFashionista, and I can’t wait to share with all you lovely Fashionista/os my personal style and all my findings! This is my first semester as a Style Guru so hang tight, be nice and get ready to step into the new year together!
