Hello my fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Clara Cirks and I am a senior at Iowa State University! I’m so excited to be a Style Guru this semester and to learn, grow and share within the fashion and beauty community. Growing up in small town Iowa, I never truly felt like I “fit in”. When I finally got to college, I felt like I could express myself more and try new trends without being judged. I’m notorious for being over-dressed, but it’s not that I want to impress anyone but rather express myself.
My style consists of what I would describe as business casual chic. I love pieces that have a multitude of uses based on what I’m doing. My favorite purchases are always those that can double as a work/school outfit and a date night outfit all in one. Although I have a lot of these pieces, no matter what the occasion, I tend to stand in front of my closet and complain, “I have nothing to wear.” I have a bad habit of trying on multiple outfits (and snapchatting them to my friends for advice) before leaving the house. I tend to have this constant, irrational fear of wasting a good outfit on an insignificant day.
One of my favorite ways to perfect my look is to match my makeup to my outfit. I have been obsessed with (and spend too much money on) orange-based neutral makeup palettes paired with brown suede pieces and gold accents. It is such a great transition from summer to back to school outfits and beauty looks. Not to mention, I love finding great pieces that are friendly to my college budget.
I am truly excited to express myself via College Fashionista this semester and to showcase college style. I cannot wait to get started!
