Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Courteney and I’m alarmingly already a senior at Iowa State University! I’m studying event management and if you ask me what I want to do once I graduate I won’t be able to give you an answer.
This is my first semester as a Style Guru and I cannot wait to get started! I’ve always had a love for fashion and beauty. You can ask my mother and she’ll tell you that I would throw temper tantrums when I was young because I didn’t want to wear certain things she would put me in. #Diva.
I spent summer 2016 traveling around Europe and studying abroad in Greece for five weeks. It was amazing to say the least. As many others will say, you learn a lot about yourself while traveling. One really important thing that I learned was my own personal style. I always knew what I loved, but I was often too afraid to express it. So I stuck with the basics because they were safe. Being in Iowa I often feel like I can’t express myself like I could in a larger city. That’s not the case anymore. This semester I am challenging myself to wear what I want, when I want and not care what others think about me. If I want to wear a crop top, I’m going to rock that crop top. If all 5’10” of me wants to wear flatforms or heels, I’m going to rock them.
With that being said, I can’t wait to get started on this journey with CollegeFashionista. My main goal is to encourage body positivity so that everyone can feel confident in what they wear. I’m so excited to express myself through fashion and writing and I hope you all enjoy!
