STYLE GURU BIO: Courtney Cheshire

Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Courtney Cheshire and I am a Michigan native currently living down south in Savannah, Georgia. I attend the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) where I am a Graphic Design major and a Film minor. I began school as a film major, but missed the satisfaction that creating digital art had given me, so I switched to Graphic Design!

Fashion became important to me towards the tail end of high school.  It was around then that I realized I could use it as a way to stand out from the crowd and express myself.  By the end of high school, I was the girl who wore heels to school almost every day.The transition from high school to college was a rocky one for me at first, but once I came to Savannah I fell in love with the city (and the south in general) instantly. The move led to style changes for me, mostly due to the climate. In Michigan we get a taste of every season, including a very long winter which was perfect for sweaters and tights.Once I became a southern belle, I had to ditch the sweaters and show some skin so that I wouldn’t sweat to death.

The best option for keeping cool and maintaining my style was skirts. Just like the striped one I’m wearing here. Most skirts are comfortable, airy and very chic. Tank tops and crop tops are another go-to item in heat, but if you find yourself in the south and aren’t too keen on showing a lot of skin just wear airy, light fabrics.

Makeup and accessories are vital to my sense of style and they are usually where I show my true colors. Bold lipsticks (black being a personal favorite) and glittery eyeshadow paired with sharp winged eyeliner is often what people recognize me for. I cannot leave my dorm without my rings and at least one other accessory.  As I mentioned before, I am studying film at SCAD and that is because movies are very important to me.  Film has saved me through a lot in my life, so I try to show my love for cinema in any way possible. Lately I’ve been wearing a tiny enamel Black Phillip goat pin, in reference to the 2016 horror film The Witch.  He’s a small, cute and subtle reminder that movies are a part of what makes me, me!

I am so thrilled to be apart of the CollegeFashionista team and I can’t wait to share amazing styles and trends with all of you!
