I’m thrilled to be returning for round six as a Style Guru and to also continue my editorial internship with CollegeFashionista. This summer, instead of scouring the Madison streets for the trendiest college students, I’ll be roaming the New York City sidewalks instead. Yes, that’s right—I’ll be taking on the Big Apple as I intern with Neely by VNB. What’s even better is that my very best friend, the Charlotte York to my Carrie Bradshaw, will also be interning in New York this summer. We’ll be chronicling our adventures together through a weekly column for Moda Magazine, our campus’s life and style publication. I’m so excited that we’ll be able to share our experience together!
When I’m not writing and editing articles or completing my internship duties, I plan on exploring the city and making the most out of the few months I have on the East Coast. I plan on chowing down on my first Ladurée macaron, Momofuku Milk Bar cereal milk soft serve and a Shake Shack burger and fries quickly upon my arrival. Also on my list of eateries is brunch at Jacks Wife Freda; I’ve been following them on Instagram for ages and can’t wait to finally have a bite of their food. I’ve recently found a love in early morning runs, so I plan on exploring part of the city this way—to the beat of my Kanye West and Beyoncé Knowles playlist. I also enjoy trying new workout classes and have a passion for spinning, so I plan on getting a ClassPass to try a variety of classes that I don’t have access to in my college town. Another place I must visit is Carrie Bradshaw’s iconic stoop, while wearing a fashion-forward, Carrie-inspired ensemble, of course!
When it comes to my style, I tend to stick to black, white and gray; however, I’m trying to incorporate some bright colors into my summer wardrobe, like this orange Topshop dress and bold lipstick. My go-to outfit includes a neutral-colored T-shirt, high-waisted skinny jeans, my favorite Zara booties, my leather jacket and a swipe of red NARS lipstick for a pop of color. I’m currently stocking my wardrobe with voluptuous midi skirts and chunky sandals that I’ll pair with my crop tops during the summer months. I definitely think that interning with CollegeFashionista and reading other Style Gurus’ articles has helped me to evolve and develop my personal style.
Even though I’ll miss the stylish city of Madison, I’ll be back to kickoff my senior year with Spotted Cows on the terrace, long treks up Bascom Hill and Bassett Street Brunch Club Taco Tuesdays before I even know it. In the meantime, I can’t wait to document the chic, on-trend Fashionistas/os that I find in the city that never sleeps this summer!
