STYLE GURU BIO: Cozette Gonzales

I’m Cozette Gonzales and I’m so excited to be joining CollegeFashionista’s Guru Gang this semester! I’m originally from New Jersey and my house is about 10 minutes away from the Jersey Shore. Since I basically grew up on the beach, I love anything that has to do with being outdoors and exploring. With my free time, you can catch me exploring through run down and abandoned places, but I also appreciate some relaxing girl time with my friends accompanied by a nice cup of tea.

Currently I’m a sophomore at Pace University in New York City where I major in communication and minor in fashion merchandising marketing. We have a club called “Profashionals” where fellow Fashionistas come to learn the ropes of the fashion industry, test the water to see what part of fashion they want to be in, and network through the many events that take place to further ourselves in this field. I actually got my first internship last semester by going to a Q&A with the designer Asher Levine. I somehow worked up the courage to introduce myself and explain to him how my main concern was finding an internship with zero experience and the next thing I knew I’m was in Asher Levine’s studio for an interview!

Being in New York has greatly inspired my style and helped me push myself to work hard. I’m a firm believer that no matter who you are, you can learn fashion and that it’s not just something you’re born with. It wasn’t until this year that I started to take fashion seriously and just like every other profession, it’s all about the energy you put into it. It may take a while, but baby steps are just as important because it’s still a sign of progression. The lace skirt and plum colored turtleneck I’m wearing is from the Who What Wear x Target collection and the jean jacket was thrifted. My shoes were from an international website, but chunky platforms are pretty easy to find! The piercings range from Forever 21 to H&M. I hope everyone has an amazing semester and I look forward to connecting with you guys!
