STYLE GURU BIO: Dana Pernini

Hey everyone! My name is Dana Pernini and I’m about to begin my sophomore year in the Fashion Design program at Drexel University.

I’ve known that I wanted to be a fashion designer since I was three years old. I grew up watching Project Runway and walking down Fashion Avenue like it was a catwalk. I’m a Jersey girl who was born a shopaholic and spends nearly every penny earned at the mall. I’m always looking forward to the next adventure and love discovering nooks and crannies all throughout my new home of Philadelphia.

When it comes to my style, I don’t think there is one way to specifically label it. On some days, I’m in the mood to look artsy, some days preppy, some days edgy and some days sparkly. When shopping, I love buying things that are unique and not in everyone’s closet.

Being a shopaholic, as you might imagine, my closet is always packed with new items (and I’m always wishing for a larger closet!). Anyone who knows me knows my obsession for jewelry; my desk doesn’t actually hold books but is home to four huge racks of jewelry and I am always the one my friends and sisters come to when looking to accessorize their looks for formal or a date party. I also am addicted to my nails; I’ve had acrylics since my Sweet 16 and see no end in sight for them. You’re probably expecting me to tell you about my hundreds of pairs of shoes next, but being so tall, I typically never wear heels, which ends up saving me from buying a lot.

You’ll notice my hair is currently a teal ombré, and no it’s not because I secretly want to be Kylie Jenner (if anything, I secretly want to be a mermaid). I figured out how to dye it myself and just went for it, which is what I like to try to do with all things beauty, whether it be a nail art design, hairstyle or makeup look.

This outfit is something cute but casual I put together that features some of the pieces of my wardrobe I like to consider unique and not in every-girl-in-America’s closet (but should be!). The focal point of this outfit is my pants; they’ve got a big, bold pattern and are sheer. I paired them with a black tank top to neutralize them and black undergarments to keep these sheer pants looking classy. I accessorized with a body chain, black fringe earrings and snake cuff bracelet. I threw on a floppy hat and my new favorite pair of matte black cat eye sunglasses. I first wore this look on vacation but it’s perfect for going out to lunch or shopping in the city.

So that’s just a little bit about me and my fashion sense! If you like my style and want to read more about Philadelphia street style and my advice, give me a RAD rating and look out for posts in the future!
