I was born and raised in the South, where drinking sweet tea on the front porch and yelling “hey y’all” to strangers is common in everyday life. Not much has changed since I navigated from Columbia, South Carolina to the peach state of Atlanta, Georgia. Being in the South has taught me more about loving life and embracing every part it has to offer. It is one of those places that you can describe to people as many times as you’d like, but it is nothing like experiencing a hot, sunny day eating watermelon in granny’s backyard or the feeling you get when you’re on the lake surrounded by people you love, with the smell of barbecue lingering in the air. It’s in those simple moments that you realize you’re exactly where you are supposed to be.
From Columbia to Spelman College and everything in between, my life is not the only thing that has evolved, but my style has, as well. It has developed into a way of expressing myself and the journey I have taken thus far. My wardrobe consists of inspirations from the places I’ve visited, people I’ve met and what I love. Self expression is the most important part when it comes to getting dressed in the mornings. I want people to be able to look at me and be able to tell a little something about who I am through my choice of clothing. Fashion is about being able to show someone who you are without having to say a word.
Fashion is a part of who I am. What I once thought of as a hobby has become a career choice for me, where I cannot see myself living without it. It’s about more than just clothing, it’s about loving the skin you were born in and living life for, and through, yourself each and every day.
Y’all enjoy!
