I was in college sitting bored in a chemistry lecture when I received the e-mail that said that I was chosen to be a Style Guru for this semester. It is so thrilling to finally be a part of the CollegeFashionista family, and I cannot wait to meet and interact with you guys. But first, introductions.
My name is Danielle Olavario. I am 19 years old and currently studying general science in Trinity College Dublin. I am originally from the Philippines, but when I was 12 years old, my family and I migrated to Ireland. I went through a very tough adjustment period, and struggled to reconcile my own Filipino culture with the Irish society I am now a part of. I soon realized that these two cultures have actually so much in common and are fundamentally not at all very different. Slowly but surely, I made tons of new friends and gained a lot of incredible new experiences. Now, seven years later, I am completely settled in and well adjusted to life away from my home country. The reason that I am telling you this is because when I was going through this very pivotal moment in my life, the year was 2009, and CollegeFashionista was newly established. Going to the website and checking out the articles from the original Big Ten universities quickly became part of my everyday routine. CollegeFashionista was a huge influence in moulding the foundations of my own style and of my view of fashion.
My love and interest for fashion continues to grow. Last year, I started thinking of the fashion industry as one that I can plausibly be a part of, and launched my very own fashion blog: Science of Adornment. The past year in Science of Adornment was largely just me testing the waters and seeing if blogging was something that I can further pursue. I ended up loving it so much, and now I plan on expanding this blog and putting a lot more effort on it this coming year.
I cannot wait to talk more about the latest fashion and beauty trends with you guys! Until next time.
