Hi there, my fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Danielle and I am a Chi-Town native who migrated down south to Louisville, KY. I am a student at the University of Louisville where I am studying Communications and Marketing. I have been an avid reader of CollegeFashionista for quite some time now, so to be given this amazing opportunity to intern with them is a dream come true!
For the longest time, when someone asked me what I wanted to be, I always said a fashion designer, or to work for a fashion magazine. It’s kind of odd how life works out. Everyone always told me it was going to be hard to break into the fashion industry (which it is). Because of the discouragement I was feeling, I gave up on that dream and spent my first two years of college studying to become a lawyer. It was interesting, but it wasn’t fulfilling.
I still was a lover of all things fashion, so I had to find a way to get all of the creativity out of my system. That’s when I discovered fashion blogging. From that point forward, I knew that I had to choose passion over status. Now, here I am writing my first post for one of the most well known fashion blogs in the country.
Now let me get off my soap box…
For those that know me, they’ll know that fashion has always been a huge part of my life. I was always the friend that went to the movies or the mall completely overdressed. I am constantly trying to style my friends and family, and I have always been their fashion go-to person! Fashion is possibly one of the purest forms of art and self expression which is why I’m so in love with it.
When it comes to my personal style, I am extremely open minded. I will never put myself into one category because there are so many different styles that I love! One day, I’ll rock a boho look, then jeans and Converse; then the next day I’ll be in head to toe J.Crew. I think that’s what’s so awesome about fashion—the fact that at any given day we have the ability to change up our style!
Today, I was all about the street vibes! You can easily recreate this look by pairing together these four items:  a black swing dress, an army green vest, a funky slogan clutch and these classic white Converse that I am wearing! Right now, it is still extremely hot in Kentucky, so this look is a perfect transition from summer into fall! I hope you all enjoyed this post as much as I loved writing it, and I’ll see you in my next one!
