Hello fellow Fashionistas! My name is Devon Miner and I’m a sophomore studying Journalism at the University of Colorado- Boulder. As a lover of journalism, photography and fashion, I am extremely excited to share my talents through this internship. I love being able to express my own creativity simply through my clothing and with this opportunity I am able to do that!
As someone who has always appreciated fashion, I’ve found that my style can change on a day-to-day basis. My style can range from completely feminine to totally grungy depending on my mood. Expanding my mind to all different categories of style is what gives my closet diversity!
While I do try to keep up with current trends, I also attempt to keep in pieces that are as timeless as possible. I wear classic looks but attempt to give it a twist of something fresh and inspired off of the runway. By doing so, I have mastered the art of “smart shopping” and stocked up a variety of pieces that I know I will be able to wear years from now.
For instance, in my current outfit I have added the black leather jacket to give my simplistic white ribbed halter and boyfriend jeans an edge; however, my tan wedges contribute a flirtatious, softer vibe while still making a bold statement. This edgy and hip ‘90s-inspired look is put together with a collection of items that are seemingly basic pieces but all together creates a well-rounded outfit.
In another scenario, if I wanted to feel more confident I could easily throw on black heels and red lipstick to tie it all together. Additionally, I love creating outfits that can easily transition from daywear to nightwear. With fashion the possibilities are endless. That’s why I continue to be inspired by major fashion houses, celebrities or even just people I see walking around my campus. For me personally, Blake Lively and Gigi Hadid inspire most of my looks because they are classically beautiful yet so edgy.
When it comes to pulling off certain looks confidence is key; be bold and it will pay off. Boulder, Colorado is the perfect place to express my sense of style because it’s so unique. I can’t wait to share more with the fashion community!
