STYLE GURU BIO: Elizabeth Hein

Hello Everyone! My name is Elizabeth Hein, but you can call me El. I am a sophomore at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin; I’m double majoring in Art and Communication & Media Studies and minoring in Spanish. This is my first semester as Style Guru for CollegeFashionista and I am beyond excited for the journey.

College is a unique time in life when each of us are allowed the freedom to explore and develop our talents and passions. What better way to express oneself during this time of “trying to figure it all out” than through fashion? Throughout the ups and downs of the ever-exciting freshmen year, I found myself relying on developing my style for a sense of identity. As I was fresh out of the chains of private high school uniforms, I was suddenly introduced to the world of daily fashion and began to realize just how much it can play a role in my life. I hope to pursue a career in the fashion industry in the future and this internship is a significant step in that direction.

I’m very eager for the opportunity to dovetail my love for writing and photography with fashion. I’m looking forward to further developing my individual style through this internship and exploring new ways to express it. Personally, I would describe my style as eclectic. I’m inspired by the bohemian vibe that is currently trending and I find myself gravitating towards bold designs and intricate detail. I’m a firm believer that one can never have too many accessories and that a vibrant shade of lipstick can be the perfect addition to spruce up any outfit. I love to mix patterns and “cut-and-paste” my favorite elements of different trends to see how they can complement each other into a unified ensemble. In this outfit, I’m wearing a suede button-down skirt with a minimalistic striped, mock-neck tank top, topped off with a graphic cropped blouse and a timeless jean jacket.

If my readers gain any insight from my articles through the course of my time as a Style Guru, I hope it would be this: don’t be afraid to shake things up. Just like fashion, we are constantly evolving and changing. Personal style can be a vehicle for self-expression, so just have fun with it, enjoy the ride and you might just find yourself along the way!
