Hey there! My name is Elyssia OmniEssence, (which I know is a mouthful), and I am from the wonderful state of Wisconsin. A lot of people believe that everyone in Wisconsin lives on a dairy farm and eats cheese all day, but for me, that is not a reality. I am what others like to refer to as a “city girl” and that is exactly what I am. Having lived in several different states as well as countries, I can’t help but emerge myself within the culture of a big city like Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I attend the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, which is one of the largest universities within Wisconsin. I am majoring in Theatre Arts, which is one of my many passions; the others are dancing, singing and, of course, fashion.
At the age of just five years old, I knew that I was a born Fashionista. One night, I took it upon myself to cut up one of the old dresses my mother had bought me. After I cut it, I added glitter to it and a little scarf made from a piece of the garment IÂ had cut. Proud of my masterpiece, I walked into my parents’ room dressed in my ensemble and instead of a standing ovation and praise, I was rewarded with no television for a week.
Even though I was too young to know it then, as I grew older, my true fashion sense began to emerge. When other girls wore flats, I wore nude heels; when other girls wore dresses, I wore harem pants; when other girls wore cross-body bags, I wore satchels. I always enjoyed having a different style from others, even it meant being judged. I saw fashion as more than expression. I saw it as art, and no one enjoys duplicates. As a Style Guru, my main objective is to broadcast the fashion/art that stands apart from the rest, because of regardless of what people say, you are a natural born masterpiece that can’t be copied.
