Hi! So glad you stumbled upon me. I’m Emily Caldwell and I am a sophomore student studying public relations and marketing at Loyola University Chicago. I love looking and learning about new fashion trends and ideas, so I decided this semester to try my best and give you the best tips and tricks on what is going on around college campuses—specifically at Loyola University Chicago.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I was born and raised in Sarasota, Florida, a place where I lived and more than half the world vacations. Although being minutes from the beach, I never really enjoyed it and always dreamt of living in a big city. I look up to female bosses like queen Beyoncé, Leslie Knope and Victoria Beckham. If I am not eating a bowl of Ben & Jerry’s half baked and watching Bob’s Burgers, you can find me laying in bed scrolling through ridiculous Instagram memes and style blogs.
As I grew up basically on a beach, I lived in my Havaiana flip flops, bathing suits and jean shorts. Everything was bright colored, printed and lightweight. There were no seasons and no reason for a winter coat. Since I have moved to the Windy City I have definitely started to incorporate darker colors into my wardrobe. To set myself apart I love adding personal accents that set my style apart. My personal style is practical, clean cut and classic. One of my favorite pieces in this outfit is my coat from Banana Republic. It’s a neutral color and I like the ability to pop the collar to create a 3D effect to my outfit. I don’t wear a lot of jewelry but I always wear my two favorite necklaces. I combine both dainty necklaces to create the layering trend. It allows you to be creative in a subtle and sophisticated way. My shoes are definitely the center of attention in this look. I am a shoe lover and my jeweled-cat eye flats from Stuart Weitzman are one of my favorite items in my closet. The shoes pull together all the colors from my maroon trousers, black turtleneck and gray trench coat. A cheaper version of the can be found from ASOS where you can also get a 10 percent discount!
I draw most of my inspiration from fashion icon Victoria Beckham, fashion businesswoman Miroslava Duma, blogger Julie Sariñana and CollegeFashionista. I can’t wait to share more styles with you as I seek more fashion inspiration from Chicago.
