Hey, I’m Emily! I am a sophomore at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. I’m super excited to be joining the CollegeFashionista community, a place where I know I’ll feel right at home.
While I wouldn’t call myself a photographer, snapping pictures of my life and my friends has always been a hobby of mine. At age eight, I received my first camera from Santa. I used that little blue polaroid camera to document an array of toothless self portraits (before selfies were even cool), questionable outfit choices of the 2000s and American Girl doll fashion shows. A few Christmases later, Santa helped me upgrade to a Canon digital camera, which took my photoshoots to a whole new level. Say hello to the zoom function! Fast forward to present day, with the help of my DSLR and some basic editing tools, my photography skills have come a long way.
Blogging has been a great interest of mine as well. After becoming obsessed with the YouTube beauty community in middle school, I took to the internet to join in on the fun and share my passion for all things beauty. The thought of talking to a video camera seemed pretty scary, so I settled with a written blog called Nail Polish & Lace. I photographed products, shared my tips and tricks and eventually began adding fashion posts to my repertoire, such as outfits of the day and styling advice. Today, Nail Polish & Lace is still up and running, and remains my primary creative outlet.
I’m a proud Californian, born and raised, so choosing to attend a university within this beautiful state was a no-brainer for me! California is extremely diverse, which is not only evident by the geography and the people, but the fashion as well. Similarly, college is a mixing pot of people with different backgrounds, beliefs and you guessed it, style. I can’t think of a better place to expose yourself to the trends of our generation. While I tend to define my look as classic and girly (do the hot pink loafers give it away?), I have been inspired by a mixture of styles featured on my campus and I can’t wait to share them with you!
Here’s to a successful spring semester! I’m extremely excited for what’s to come.
