Greetings! My name is Emily, and I am 22 years old. I grew up by a beach in Florida, but moved to Missouri quite some time ago. I took some time off of school to work in jobs such as retail, banking, and logistics. During this time, I realized fashion is wholeheartedly what I want to do in life. I went back to school this last fall, and I am a junior at the University of Central Missouri studying fashion textiles and clothing. This is my first semester being a Style Guru, and I am so excited to be a part of CollegeFashionista!
I love to travel as much as possible to gather inspiration from different people, places, and cultures. I love to read, write, paint, attend concerts, and hang out with my incredible cat, Lily (named after Harry Potter’s mother). Fashion and the ocean always have been, and always will be, my greatest obsessions.
I love fashion so much because not only can I express myself through it, but I can appreciate how others express themselves through their fashion. My style is somewhat edgy. My favorite color to wear is black, and I thrive off a dark lip. I love to accessorize with various things. I have 24 tattoos, along with some piercings, and use them as an accessory to my style. My most recent favorite accessory is my glasses. I have worn glasses since the third grade, and it has always been a struggle for me. I have embraced my lack of sight by getting the most marvelous pair of glasses. I don’t want to take them off, which is neat—since I really need them. Another favorite accessory that I’m not seen without is one of my mother’s vintage leather purses. I also enjoy turtlenecks, high-wasted pants, men’s sweaters, and various types of boots. Most days I look like a “mom” and some days I look like a “dad.” This is due to the fact that my favorite places to shop are my parents’ closets and thrift stores. Nothing beats free or almost free prices!
