Hi! My name is Emily Moletteri, and I’m a senior Strategic Communication major in my last semester at Temple University in Philadelphia. My professional dream is to one day combine my loves of fashion, public relations and social media for a fabulous, fast-paced job in Philly or New York City. I am so excited to start my first semester writing for CollegeFashionista!
I was born and raised in the suburbs, but I am truly a city girl at heart. Living in Philly for the past four and a half years has had a significant influence on my personal style. This diverse and exciting urban environment has challenged me to push the boundaries of my creativity and my comfort zone, leading to some pretty #RAD sartorial results! From the creative window display of a random boutique, to well-dressed passerby on the streets of Center City or to a classmate with a particularly cute pair of shoes, there is no lack of inspiration in the City of Brotherly Love.
My favorite style icons definitely reflect my diverse tastes in fashion. I’m pretty much obsessed with Kristen Stewart’s effortlessly edgy vibe. Sophia Amoruso masters the grown-up goth girl look like no one else. I’ve been glued to Rumi Neely’s Instagram all summer, filled with one luxe, minimalistic look after another. And I’ve lost count of how many street-style fashion blogs I follow on Tumblr!
Now for the best part! For this look, I wanted to create an outfit that mixed a few of my favorite trends together. I had this peasant top from Kirra at PacSun altered to be more of a crop top for some extra edge. It seems that PacSun no longer carries this line, but this black crop top from LA Hearts at PacSun gives off a similar flirty, edgy vibe. I paired my top with slim-leg palazzo pants, also from LA Hearts at PacSun. A similar pair in a light gray print, which can be found here, would create an even more feminine look! To make this boho outfit more urban than hippie, I finished it off with strappy black Steve Madden wedges and a small black Nine West cross-body bag. I topped my outfit off with a pair of vintage mega-statement sunglasses.
I can’t wait to bring more Philly inspiration to CollegeFashionista!
