Hiya! My name is Emily Tam and I am a senior studying marketing at the University of San Francisco. I am so excited to be a part of CollegeFashionista this semester! I am thrilled to share my style and advice with you all while learning from other Style Gurus!
I am from San Diego and moved to San Francisco four years ago. I have just gotten back from studying abroad in London, one of the world’s fashion capitals. While studying abroad, I had the opportunity to intern at a fashion company in London. It was an amazing opportunity and allowed me to grow a stronger passion for fashion. Living in London, I traveled to other fashion capitals like Milan and Paris, which were amazing! With my travels and my internship, I developed a larger appreciation for fashion all around the world and the industry.
I have always had a strong interest in and passion for fashion because of the way it allows people to express themselves. I am naturally drawn to creative and artistic things, which is why fashion has always been a big part of my life. I think that personal style is important, because it allows you to express yourself in a confident way. Creating different styles and unique looks is always fun and inspiring.
Speaking of creating different styles and looks; I love creating new looks and mixing up different pieces. Growing up in San Diego, I love the beach and always go for the bohemian and beachy look. In San Francisco, I tend to reach for my comfy sneakers and rock a sporty chic look with skinny jeans or throw on my chunky Chelsea booties to give my inner city girl an edge. Anyone who knows me knows that the bulk of my closet is black. But hey, it goes with everything, right? I tend to stick to lots of neutral tones like greys, blacks, whites, and denim.
Today, I chose an outfit that I would wear in both of my favorite cities. I threw on a simple denim shirtdress with a slouchy sweater on top as it is getting a bit chilly this winter. Feeling the winter breeze, I opted for my Chelsea booties! Don’t worry, I didn’t forget about accessories! I am forever in love with rings and bangles because they always give an outfit the extra “oomph!” This is one of my favorite outfits because it is effortless and simple. Sometimes I pair this outfit with sneakers for a sporty, chic look. You’d be surprised that a quick change in shoes can change a whole look!
I am so excited for the opportunity to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, and I can’t wait to share more of my style and advice with my fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos!
