Hi everyone! My name is Emily Uliano and I am a junior at Penn State, where I am majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Spanish. This is my first semester at CollegeFashionista and I am so excited to be a part of the team!
I have always loved and been interested in fashion, but my passion has especially grown over the past couple years as I have started thinking about my future and a career. My dream is to someday be a writer for a fashion magazine, or do PR for a brand/designer.
I am a firm believer in the saying “look good, feel good.” Having the right outfit instantly puts me in a good mood and makes my entire day brighter. I would say my personal everyday style is casual, comfortable and slightly edgy. Black is definitely my favorite color to wear, but I don’t shy away from color. My style also ranges from tomboyish in a comfy thermal, boyfriend jeans and Converse, to girly in a romper or dress and strappy sandals. My favorite go-to piece right now is my leather white on white high-top Converse—I wear them with everything! I’m drawn to anything I can layer and I love mixing things up and trying out new fashion trends.
Celebrities I often look to for fashion inspiration include Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively, Kate Moss, Kendall Jenner and Vanessa Hudgens among others. I think Hollywood is a great place to look to find fashion trends and draw inspiration from. With their personal stylists and vast walk-in closets, celebrity A-listers have the best of the best when it comes to fashion, and they are often the ones to start major fashion trends.
While Penn State does not offer fashion-related courses, it is still a great school and environment to find new, unique and bold fashion trends. The diversity and size of the student body here allows students to express themselves and their personal styles. I love when things other people are wearing around campus catch my eye, and I can’t wait to share that with all of you!
