My name is Emma Jo and I am an incoming junior at the University of Rhode Island who is majoring in Public Relations as well as Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design. I’ll be spending my summer in New York City and the Hamptons, where I’ll be featuring trends and keeping you up-to-date on the latest summer 2015 looks. I am ecstatic to be a part of the CollegeFashionista team as a Style Guru and look forward to showing you that fashion is much more than just an outfit.
I grew up in a suburb of New York City, just minutes away from midtown Manhattan, which has shaped me into the fashion-obsessed leader that I am. Although New York would have been the perfect place for me to continue my love and fascination with the fashion industry, I wanted to experience a new place as well as new people. Rhode Island definitely came as a surprise to me when I was forced to adapt to a place that was the complete opposite of New York City.
I believe that fashion is an exemplification of who you are. I describe my style as minimalistic with an edgy touch. I definitely could not live without my leather jacket and my boyfriend jeans. When it comes to fashion, I like to try new things and take risks. As Wednesday Addams once said, “I’ll stop wearing black when they invent a darker color.” When I’m not wearing all black it’s probably because I’m wearing denim. There’s also nothing I love more than leather, and I believe that every outfit must be perfected with a bag.
Here I paired a romper by Young, Fabulous and Broke with a J-Brand coated sleeve denim jacket, an accessorized with my Sam Edelman black gladiators that I cannot live without and a classic fedora. Since fashion is about representing yourself, you will definitely learn a little bit about me through what I wear and what I am featuring in my posts. I am thrilled to give you fashion inspiration, trend forecasts and style advice since I know from experience that getting dressed can be the hardest part of the day. Stay tuned every Wednesday for my posts, and get excited for a trendy summer!
