After two semesters off from CF, it feels so good to be back! Since my last semester with CollegeFashionista, I’ve studied abroad in Prague and Bratislava, and I’ve started my junior year at the University of Pittsburgh. My time in college is flying by, so I’ve got to live up these last few semesters with this #RAD website!
For this outfit, I opted to step out of my comfort zone and wear something that’s not classically “Emma”. New year, new me (or something like that). The article of clothing that challenged my usual style are these charcoal gray mom jeans. I’ve been wanting a pair of mom jeans for approximately two years, so I’m beyond happy to have finally taken the plunge. These aren’t too out there, as far as mom jeans go, but I’m happy to be kicking off the new year with styles that I’ve always wanted to try. Plus, I’m in love with Steve from Netflix’s Stranger Things, so this is my own way of paying homage to that beautiful boy.
I’m not a super flashy dresser, so the gray and black color scheme of my outfit is back into the zone I’m used to. I’m obsessed with the cut of this cardigan, since it’s almost cropped but not really, and hits me just past where most of my pants land on my waist. I’ve pretty much worn it every day since I stole it from my mom’s closet (thanks, Mom). My little black booties have been my go-to shoes over winter break, since the heel adds just a touch of extra height without making my feet ache. I walked 18 miles in them over two days in New York City, so saying they’re my go-to shoes is almost an understatement. Minimalist jewelry is what I always wear, and I’m really into layering dainty gold necklaces lately. I got these necklaces for Christmas, and I can tell I’m going to wear them pretty frequently. I especially love the look of small gold necklaces with an edgier outfit.
My semester starts in a few days, so I’ll soon begin scoping out the raddest outfits on Pitt’s campus. I hope you’ll keep reading my articles over the next few months, and I hope you all have a fantastic 2017!
