Hey Fashionistas/os! My name is Erica Brandbergh and I’m a junior at the University of Pittsburgh. I am studying English writing and communications with a minor in Spanish. This is my first semester as a Style Guru and I couldn’t be more excited to have this opportunity.
My love for fashion began at a young age and has only grown stronger over time. I remember watching The Devil Wears Prada religiously when it came out (it’s still my favorite movie) and walking in pretend fashion shows with my friends. Now, I love to spend my free time staying informed with trends on fashion blogs and on social media, as well as reading fashion publications such as Women’s Wear Daily to stay updated with what’s going on in the industry. Fashion and writing are my two greatest passions. My dream is to combine the two and work for a fashion public relations agency when I graduate.
I would say my style is, for the most part, a street wear/’90s mix, but I don’t follow any specific rules! I stick to what I like and I think that’s one of the best things about fashion. I also love to wear more daring, statement items like my pink fur Free People jacket and thigh high boots and mix them with casual pieces.
I spent the past year traveling the world spending the majority of my time in Barcelona, Spain, and Tokyo, Japan, and I was highly inspired by the women’s wear in both cities. In Europe, I loved the look of sneakers with dressed up outfits, and in Japan, I loved the chic, crisp pieces in black and white.
In this look, I’m wearing my go-to shoes, Stan Smiths, paired with dark green culottes and a graphic T-shirt. Over top, I am wearing a camouflage parka from Dance and Marvel. Since this is a statement outfit on its own, I didn’t feel the need to accessorize much beyond a small beaded choker that is green as well, as I felt it tied everything together.
I hope you liked this look, Fashionistas/os! I can’t wait to share looks that inspire me with you this semester.
