Hi everyone! My name is Erin, and I’m currently a sophomore at the University of Georgia. This is my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, and I could not be more excited! I am currently majoring in journalism, and I am mostly interested in working in the magazine journalism field. My dream job would probably be to work for NYLON or a similar publication. Along with that, I’m minoring in art history because not only do I find it really interesting, but I love art.
Typically, I don’t have a strict style that I adhere too. My fashion philosophy is to be open-minded because you don’t want to limit your expression. I used to pretty much only wear dark colors or neutrals, but recently I have been drawn to wild, interesting prints and clothes that stand out from the crowd. Having a flexible, changing style is great because I can feel various ways depending on what I wear. Some days I want to pop on a baby pink crop top with a denim skirt and feel feminine and cute, but other days I want to feel #RAD so I put on my O-Ring collar and chunky boots. When it comes to inspiration, right now, for spring 2017, Hunter S. Thompson is definitely a style icon.
I’m always changing my mind as well, so something I liked three months ago could be something I don’t want to wear anymore, which makes shopping somewhat of a struggle! Fashion for me is so important because it has everything to do with self-confidence. Whenever I wear an outfit I love, I feel 10 million times better about myself, which of course isn’t every day, but I love that self-esteem boost that comes when I find the perfect ensemble.
The look pictured here is one of my favorites because of this bright fun print–something I would have never worn last year! I think it’s fun and unique, but also super versatile, and very cool.
