My name is Faith Zwicker and I am a sophomore at Kent State University majoring in Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Fashion Media, and I couldn’t be happier. I just finished my first year of college and first semester with CollegeFashionista and I am so excited to return as a Style Guru for the summer! Looking back on my first semester with CollegeFashionista I have learned so much and had a lot of fun connecting with and following other Style Gurus on social media. I have also learned how to be more creative with my writing and check for grammar mistakes, which is key for this internship as well as my Fashion Media minor.
Ever since I was little, fashion has always been my passion, however it took a long time to figure out what my style is. In middle school, I fell victim to the “wear every t-shirt with either Aeropostale and Hollister written boldly across the front” trend. My style could have only gone up from that and thankfully it has. Today, my style takes inspiration from surfing blogs and overall beach attire, but with an urban twist. Being that I’m from Pittsburgh, I have to dream about going to the beach rather than actually live there, so I choose to dress for my dream rather than reality.
I love to practice yoga and I also love spinning in my free time, so naturally I’m a huge fan of the rise of “athleisure.” When I’m not in class, working or eating, my free time is spent at the gym. So I guess my style could be described as taking inspiration from both coastal and urban life mixed with “athleisure.”
The light wash overalls I’m wearing are like a blank pallet that can be transformed to create a look for any trend or style. I choose to pair mine with metallic gold espadrilles which are the perfect beach sandals, yet I avoid wearing them to the actual beach as sand is impossible to get out of them. Under the overalls, I chose a tight, black off-the-shoulder crop top, which brings a more urban feel to the look. To finish off the look, I chose a cute summer clutch that I made myself.
I’m so excited to be back as a Style Guru for the summer, so be sure to check back here to see the street styles of Pittsburgh.
