Hello, Fashionistas! My name is Farah Benamar and I am a freshman at University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. I am currently majoring in English with a minor in Business. I love reading, writing, exercising and studying astrology in my free time. I also love fashion! I deeply enjoy putting together outfits, flipping through Teen Vogue magazines and scrolling through the Instagram feeds of well known Beauty Gurus. As a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, I get to combine two of my favorite things: fashion and writing. I am beyond excited to start this journey and hope that you can benefit from my take/perspective on every day fashion.
My style is a tad complicated to describe. I live in a big city, so my go-to looks are usually pretty edgy/grungy. All of my clothes are predominately black with the occasional splash of color. I adore all my ripped jeans, oversized shirts, band T-shirts and ankle boots, so you can catch me wearing those pieces quite frequently. During the winter, I wear a lot of leather and beanies. Although I love my street-chic clothing, I can’t help the Southern Belle in me. Houston is 100 percent urban, but it’s still in the great ol’ state of Texas. Therefore, you will often find me in a cute little sundress or skirt with a pair of cowgirl boots or simple sandals.
The outfit I’m wearing above was what I wore for my first day of school. My shoes are the white Converse high-tops. These shoes are my current obsession. I wear them all the time. I love them because you can easily dress them up or down, and they’re extremely comfortable. My shirt is from Forever 21. I bought it a size bigger so that I could get that oversized/rugged look. My mid-rise skinny jeans are also from Forever 21. They are the perfect shade of blue and match nearly any outfit. My backpack is Herschel and I purchased it from Zumiez. It’s necessary for school, the straps are comfortable and it’s fashionable!
