Hi! My name is Gabby and I’m super pumped to be a Style Guru this semester! I’m from the East Village in Manhattan, New York’s coolest neighborhood. Maybe I’m being biased, but it is seriously such a special place. Home to activists, artists, fellow Fashionistas and musicians, the East Village is a great place to be inspired. It is also the main inspiration of my style. My dad can back me up on this one. Every time we’re strolling around, I probably say “Oh my god, did you see her outfit? She looks so cool!” at least five times. Needless to say, I’m really into street style. I love dressing up and throwing on a pair of heels, but I’m so much more comfortable with a simple dress, booties and my leather jacket.
I wear boots with everything—even in the summer. There’s just something about a good pair of black leather boots. It completes a look every time. I can look at someone wearing a pair of sandals and say “Oh I love that” but it’s just not my thing.
This look sums up my style. I am wearing a knitted skirt I got at a thrift store a few blocks from my house. I wear it all the time. It’s easy to wear, it’s not too short and it’s fun! I wear it in the summer with a tube top, but I can also wear it in the winter with a baggy cardigan or a tighter shirt/sweater tucked in. And I’m wearing boots! I adore Chelsea boots. They’re so versatile and look great with dresses, skirts, and especially a good pair of boyfriend jeans. Adding boots to this kind of outfit just makes it more fun and gives the “girly” skirt a twist.
