Hey there Fashionistas/os! My name is Gabriella Schonhaut, and I am so excited to be a Style Guru this semester! I can’t wait to spot some of you on campus and spotlight some of the amazing styles I see every day at Marist College.
I am a Fashion Merchandising major with a concentration in Fashion Promotion and a Business minor, so I’ve been lucky to be immersed in the world of fashion for the past year and a half. I’ve had amazing opportunities, including volunteering at fashion shows, attending lectures by industry pros and even being a part of Marist College’s own student-run Silver Needle Fashion Show.
My hometown is on Long Island, and I’ve been lucky enough to live just a 30-minute train ride from the Big Apple my whole life. I love to go into the city for shopping, fashion inspiration and to just experience the buzz. My goal is to live and work in New York City, since I love it so much, and I am always inspired by my visits. It feels like I belong there— as Taylor Swift would say, “Welcome to New York, it’s been waiting for you!”
I would describe my personal style as basic with a twist, and my roommate has defined it as “Comfy-Trendy.” My favorite pieces are jeggings, chunky sweaters and simple dresses, and I love wearing black, but not all the time… Sometimes I wear gray… Just kidding, but I do love neutrals paired with an accent color. I believe fashion isn’t just about clothes and accessories, so I love to try out new makeup looks and beauty trends. Right now I love a good statement lipstick to contrast a monochrome outfit.
I wanted to be a Style Guru because I love seeing what people on campus are wearing, and I find myself wondering how people pick out their outfits or where they get their clothes. Being a Style Guru, I can ask these questions and post the information for other curious Fashionistas to see. I am excited for this opportunity to share my style as well as other Red Fox fashion with the world, so I hope you’ll look out for my upcoming posts!
