Hello, hello! Calling all Fashionistas/os to the stage. It’s roll call time baby, and I’ve got a lot to tell you about myself.
My name is Gabrielle Head and this is my second semester as a Style Guru here at CollegeFashionista. You can call me Gabby or anything else that may suit you. The creative types like to make original nicknames for me like Gabster or Gab-a-lab.
I am a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro majoring in Retail and Consumer Studies. I also minor in Business Administration. Being born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, I am not unaccustomed to college town life. Considering the many institutions in the triad area, Greensboro is a melting pot of many different cultures from all difference parts of the world. I was confident that this school would one day be my home since my junior year of high school. I can honestly say I cannot picture myself anywhere else.
So enough with the scholastic talk. Let me give you a glimpse into my fashion world. Everything looks better with reptile print. Well, at least in my peculiar mind. I can’t express to you the full magnitude of my love for heels. I am slowly but surely building a collection and dream of having a huge closet filled with nothing but shoes. Well, I guess it’s more of a plan. I’ve got to have it! I don’t really have a favorite color to wear but, I do believe black is always in style and white can make any item look expensive. I don’t like spending a fortune on clothes and accessories. The sunglasses I’m wearing were five dollars at Wal-Mart and the chunky heels were 20 dollars at Charlotte Russe. It’s not hard to find a good deal. My dream career is to be a buyer for an apparel brand. I want to travel the world to learn about fashion from unfamiliar areas. Hopefully, I’ll be studying abroad soon.
As for my personal style, I like to put together personas. This may include makeup and hair as well as apparel. As you can see by my turtleneck shirt and button-up skirt, I wanted to feel like a late 1960s to early 1970s young, bombshell. My goal was to look like an extra in an Austin Powers movie. Next week, I’m liable to walk around looking like a futuristic dancer in an old TLC music video. Who knows what kind of character I’ll be next time you see me. I certainly have no clue.
But enough about me. My campus is notorious for our chic, creative souls. In capturing them around campus, I hope to give you all an accurate depiction of the trends and fashion forward individuals here at UNCG. By the way, in my spare time I am an intern for Valentia Ifuerza and a Spartan Guide for the admissions office. So if you think that my school may be a good fit for you, come tour with me so I can show you why I love it here.
