Welcome, fellow fashion gurus! My name is Gina Jadelis, I am a sophomore at Marist College studying Communications with a concentration in Public Relations and a double minor in Fashion Merchandising and American Studies. This is my second semester as a Style Guru and I am ecstatic to be back and to share campus trends with you!
Since becoming a Style Guru I have grown a keen eye for other trendsetters on campus. I’m very excited to get back to finding fellow fashionable students and reporting on their style!
Everyone has their own sense of fashion, and while some are edgier, or more risky than others, I love the classics. For me, I could never have enough white T-shirts or dark wash jeans. Oxfords are a must, and the best type of purse is one that goes with every outfit. That’s not to say I do not have my days where I embrace fast fashion, but with the classics every day is fashionable.
My goal is to always be two things: stylish and comfortable. If I am not comfortable, people are going to be able to tell, and that ruins the outfit! The clothing I feel most comfortable in is J.Crew, Madewell, Ralph Lauren and kate spade. All of these stores sell basics which can be mixed and matched for a variety of great looks.
This outfit was clearly inspired by J.Crew…as 90 percent of the outfit is from there. This winter has been mild thus far, which means that the bulky winter coats have yet to be broken out. Instead, I opted for one of my J.Crew bubble vests to keep me warm. Winter is the time of layers. Here I am wearing a traditional, chambray button-down under my lightweight white sweater. Instead of wearing jeans, I went for comfort, with a skinny black pant paired with camel-fringe ankle booties. Accessories make any outfit so to add a pop of color and sparkle to mine, I selected a signature J.Crew statement necklace, Marc Jacobs watch and simple Madewell bangle.
Now that you have peeked into my wardrobe, I am excited to report my fellow fashionable peers to my readers all semester!
