Welcome back Fashionistas and Fashionistos! I am so happy to be back at CollegeFashionista for the summer. During the academic year, I am an economics and media studies student at the University of Virginia. This summer, I will be taking a bit of a break from Charlottesville to head to New York City. As one of the fashion capitals of the world, I am truly excited to see the amazing street style that roams the streets of Manhattan and have the ability to share it with you. As well as this, summer is one of my favorite seasons for fashion. Summer street style is filled with flowing dresses and skirts, fun sandals and funky sunglasses, just a few of my favorite things. In the summertime, it seems like everyone has a happy, carefree attitude that translates to their fashion choices and personal style. Colors are bright, patterns are plentiful and many feel as if this is their season to experiment with the latest trends.
In my first summer look, I have highlighted some of my favorite summer trends that will likely be present in my style throughout the season. My tie-dye patterned, flowing dress keeps me cool during hot weather while also keeping up a fun, ’70s vibe that has been present on the runway in the past couple of seasons. For my accessories, I decided to keep it simple with delicate, gold jewelry to not take away from the pattern of the dress, but keep the look polished and put together. I also decided to add a plain, brown bucket bag that is perfect for keeping your things on you while walking around the city. My black Jack Rogers are a staple that I wear throughout the summer. They’re comfortable and can be paired with almost every outfit. Finally, I finished off my outfit with a pair of metallic sunglasses. These sunglasses are a little different than the typical pair, but that is one of the things that I love about fashion. You can always find new, different things to try and incorporate them into your personal style. Stay tuned this summer to hear about some of my other favorite trends from my summer in Manhattan. Happy reading!
