Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Haley Raines, and I am very excited to start my first term as a Style Guru with CollegeFashionista!
I am an incoming senior at the University of Akron, studying fashion merchandising and minoring in marketing and sales technology. This will be my fourth year at Akron, but only my third year as a fashion major. I switched majors at the beginning of my sophomore year, and it was the best switch I have ever made! Fashion has always been an important part of my life. I was always the friend styling everyone, even turning my volleyball locker room in high school into a very crowded closet filled with shoes, dresses, skirts and every accessory you could think of.
One of the first questions I get as a fashion major is “what do you plan on doing with that?” and honestly, I would be happy with any job in the field. If I had it my way, my job of choice would be either a visual merchandiser or stylist. Honestly I would be happy cleaning the bathrooms as long as I was around fashion. I am so scatterbrained constantly that I would need a busy job so the fashion world is the ideal industry for me.
My everyday style is something easy; something that can be easily matched with a messy ponytail. If I had an unlimited amount of money and wasn’t always late, I would layer my clothing like an Olsen twin. That is my ideal look: messy hair and a lot going on. My go-to items are my boyfriend jeans, loose flowy tank top and a bralette. A very simple look but I always manage to have a bold bag.
Fashion is such an amazing way to express oneself and can be used as a creative outlet. Already I have been able to see so many fun and stylish profiles from CollegeFashionista and I hope mine will be the same.
