Hello Fashionistas/os, I’m Hannah Smith. I am thrilled to announce my position as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this fall. I would love to share a little about myself, but most importantly, I can’t wait to get to know all of you Fashionistas, as well as my fellow Style Gurus.
To put it bluntly, I’m a California girl. Growing up in the Bay area, I was able to make the most of my location and spent a lot of my time playing tourist in San Francisco, snowboarding in Tahoe, picnicking in the Napa wine country and thrifting in Berkley. My teenage years were a whirlwind of adventure. When I finally graduated high school in 2014, I was eager to attend college somewhere new and exciting. What better place to do so than in New York City?
When I moved across the country to study Fashion Merchandising Management at the Fashion Institute of Technology, my life changed. I was suddenly thrown into the hustle and bustle of New York City. I found myself dreaming even bigger than before, and being tremendously inspired by those around me. I especially looked up to my fellow classmates at FIT. A lot of the students at my school are talented, hardworking and creative individuals. This is why I can’t wait to share with you some of the street style I see on campus. Although I am currently living a stylish life in The Big Apple, I haven’t always been a Fashionista.
Growing up, I was a major tomboy. I wore my soccer jersey to school every day and played on the playground with the boys! When I got to middle school, I had the most amazing friends who, with time, helped me learn to love being girly and fashionable. Throughout high school, my style slowly evolved into what it is today. I like to think of my style as a mix of chic and rebellious. Today, you will find me in a leather jacket, adidas sneakers and ripped jeans. Tomorrow, I could be in a blouse with a silky scarf and heels. I love that my style is so versatile and changes day by day.
Enough about me…time for a semester full of FIT street style.
