Welcome Fashionistas! This is my second Style Guru Bio and second semester joining the CollegeFashionista team. I have learned a lot about myself and my style over the course of this past semester and hope to continue to grow this semester.
One thing that is important to know about me is that in all aspects of my life, I enjoy creating statements. I do this through the mediums of my views and the voice I use, my art, and my fashion. When it comes to fashion, making statements is in the name. The trends that I have been following religiously into the new year are statement earrings and statement sleeves.
Before this past season, I wore my opal and diamond studs with little to no variation. While keeping an eye on my favorite bloggers and new arrival sections of my preferred shops, I watched this trend grow. I was hesitant at first, but in no time at all, I gave in and purchased a pair of Ventrone Chronicles hoops. Other statement earrings to check out can be found here and here.
Statement sleeves also made a significant impression on me. I worked with a couple options but landed on bell sleeves and trumpet sleeves. These statements work well with button-downs and sweaters. In my Style Guru shoot, I decided to go the route of a bell sleeve sweater with a tasteful V-neck.
Along with the style, the color is almost as important as well. This soft pink is the perfect tone for transitioning from the winter season into the spring. Because I kept the color safe, by staying in the realm of neutrals, I wanted to implement a monochromatic quality. I used a pale illustrated neck scarf and a Cuyana saddle bag all in the soft pink family. You can find a similar and more cost effective saddle bag here.
Continuing to mix and match trends and seeing how far I can push my outfits is why fashion is so exciting and never dull for me. I look forward to continue sharing my own fashion adventures as well as other Fashionista’s this semester!
