Hello to all! My name is Holly Barnes, and I am a freshman at the University of Florida. I am majoring in marketing and hoping to minor in either retailing or entrepreneurship. I cannot wait to start out the new year with all of my fellow Fashionistas!
Since I was four, fashion has been the key to my heart. I still remember the day when I got my very first pair of ruby red slippers, just like the ones Dorothy wore in the Wizard of Oz. I sported those little gems everywhere; they were my pride and joy. The day that I eventually outgrew them was tragic.
You could always catch me cat-walking down my hallway with a feather boa and Barbie aviators on, struttin’ my stuff. I’ve decided to retire those Barbie aviators for my favorite little Ray-Ban aviators. These babies are my pride and joy; I literally wear them everywhere. There’s not one outfit I’ve found that they don’t go with. Two other trends I’ve noticed that I am in love with are chunky heels and corduroy skirts; I can’t get enough of them. They can be worn for a day in the city or even a night downtown.
Reading someone’s outfit is almost like getting a little snippet of their personality. We show who we are by the clothes we put on our bodies. There’s something so intriguing about walking into the mall and building onto your personality, layer by layer and purchase by purchase. Styles and trends are developing every second, just like people, and that’s what makes fashion and clothes and accessories all the more beautiful.
My style is a huge jumble of different trends. Sometimes I’m feeling comfy casual; sometimes all dolled up with sparkles and jewelry; sometimes I’m even on the wild, edgier side. Every day I wake up thinking of a different outfit in my head, hoping it looks as good on me as it does in my head (it usually does).
I can’t wait for what’s in store this semester at College Fashionista, but I have no doubt it’s going to be amazing.
