STYLE GURU BIO: Hope Nguyen

Hi! My name is Hope, and I’m a freshman at San Francisco State University. I’m currently studying marketing and part of the reason for this decision is because of my love for fashion. I’ve been interested in fashion ever since I was little. My mom always reminds me of when I was three years old and insisted on dressing myself in whatever ridiculous outfit I could come up with. But now, my style has definitely changed (thank god!) and I consider my own style a mixture of urban and bohemian styles. I love being able to explore the city and being exposed to the multitude of cultures and diversity has helped create my urban eclectic style. The bohemian aspect of my style is because I live in Southern California. Since the beach is a short drive from my house, I tend to dress in easy and relaxed clothing.

For this look I’m wearing a light green tank, with a detailed white lace bralette underneath, tucked into high-waisted black skinny jeans. I’m also wearing suede heeled booties and a black choker to tie it together.

This look reflects my personal style because I really like to layer different components of my outfits and combine a variety of textures. One of the main reasons I like to layer is to adjust to the San Francisco weather. Being from Southern California, I’m still getting used to this foggy city! I also tend to stick to solid colored pieces, which is why I chose classic black jeans and a light green solid tank. To make the outfit more interesting, I added the suede texture of my booties and the laser cut detailing of my bralette.

I chose marketing as my major because it allows me to learn more about the business industry, while also exercising my creative side. Throughout this semester, I’m excited to show you my own personal style and other looks I love around my college campus!
