Hey Fashionistas/os, I’m Imani and this is my second semester with CollegeFashionista! I am in my third year of undergraduate studies at the University of Kentucky. My major is economics, my minor is philosophy and I am on the pre-med track. I know what your first thought is: those things have nothing to do with each other and certainly nothing to do with fashion. I assure you that it took me some time to realize that my wide array of interests were not flaws in my character or way of thinking. I have a passion for many different things and hiding that would do nothing but hinder me. I decided, a short while ago, that I would express my love for all things I felt inclined to and since then I’ve been the happiest I’ve ever been. Through all of my fields of study and interests, I hope to one day be able to make the world a little better (even if that only means helping someone pick out the right pair of shoes).
I am a native New Yorker with a thing for diversity. Whether that means the environment that I’m in or the clothing I wear, I love the fact that things can be different and exist together. My closet is a smorgasbord of styles and contains items that are classic wardrobe staples along with super trendy pieces. My wardrobe is something I take pride in because it allows me the versatility to be different each and every day. When asked to describe my style, it is often difficult for me to embody it in a word or two. However, with this post, I tried to capture a look that I feel the most confident and comfortable in. I tried to capture I look that encapsulated the style of me, today. The outfit I went for possesses minimalism with a simple olive green shift dress, but the faux suede motorcycle jacket and patent leather Perspex heeled boots add texture and quirkiness.
I am so excited to see what this semester with CollegeFashionista has in store for me!
