Hi there Fashionistas/os! My name is Isa Perez, and I am so excited to be part of the Style Guru team for a third semester! I cannot believe that I am starting my junior year here at  The University of Florida. I’m majoring in journalism and communications with a minor in innovation. I’ve always had a passion for the fashion and entertainment industries and see myself writing for my favorite fashion publication and reporting live from the red carpet for E! News one day. Until those dreams come true, I’ll be here capturing the latest of my campus’ college fashions with CollegeFashionista and running my personal blog, Call Me Isa!
It’s quite ironic that not only do I write for CollegeFashionista, but my nickname among many is Isa Fashionista. I get my biggest inspiration from my favorite fashion publications, but I also like to go back to old magazines and predict what will/won’t come back in trend. Â With that being said, I never really stick to one style or go-to look, because how I dress on a certain day reflects my mood. Being born and raised in Miami, FL as a Cuban American has me constantly inspired by the colors and blues of the city, which is why you will always see me wearing blue more often than not.
My outfit and the beautiful blue color in my romper were inspired by my hometown. When I first got my eye on this romper I just HAD to have it. Not only are rompers comfortable, but I am a huge fan of lace, fringe and a nice halter top. On my trip to Spain this summer, I found these killer espadrille sneakers that work for both fancier and casual looks. My personality is fun and free which is why I paired the look with a straw clutch and heart-shaped sunglasses. This was definitely my favorite outfit of the summer!
As you can imagine, sticking an Miami girl into a small town like Gainesville was a big shock to my confidence in my usual wardrobe preferences. I suddenly felt over-dressed and constantly stared at at just about every event I went. If you’ve ever felt like this when starting at your new university, take it as a form of flattery, and don’t tone it down! Be you!
I couldn’t be more excited to continue this journey with CollegeFashionista and further get inspired by my fellow Style Gurus!
