Hey there fellow Fashionsta/os! I am beyond excited to start this new chapter of my life as a freshmen at the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising in New York City as well as being a part of CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru. I am originally from central New Jersey but made a move to New York to be closer to school. I cannot wait to bring you all along with me through my journey as a fashion student in the city.
In case you couldn’t tell by now, I’ve always had a love for all things fashion. As I got older I became more serious about it and decided that I wanted to pursue a career in the industry. I will be majoring in fashion merchandising and learning all about the business side of fashion. Although I won’t be designing, sketching or sewing all day in class doesn’t mean I can’t have a little fun with what I wear when I go to my business classes. For as short of a time span that I’ve been in New York, I can already feel the immense influence of fashion on the streets. Naturally, it has motivated and inspired me to advance my style and also try out new looks here that I probably could never get away with in a small town in New Jersey.
I know this will be my go-to outfit in the remaining days of summer and also well into fall. Lately, I’ve been flowy clothes that are more lightweight and easier to wear in the summer heat. You can never go wrong with a simple slip dress and minimal accessories. I found my dress at Forever 21 and while it is so comfortable, it is also a simple outfit to put together since the only styling it requires is a skinny scarf, choker or layered necklaces. Layering is key in the city as it is hot one second and chilly the next. I threw on a sleeveless duster vest from an online store named Boohoo just to add more to the look. There’s no surprise here for my choice of shoes. Another key to dressing for the city—sneakers. I love my white adidas Superstars, and they are worth buying as you will get so much use out of them because they go with almost anything. White sneakers have become my best friend these past few days and I don’t think I will be over this trend anytime soon. I am someone who wants to look stylish but also comfortable at the same time so if you’re like me you definitely need to get your hands on some white sneakers ASAP. Overall, I think I can sum up my style with this look I have for you today. Minimal, comfortable and neutral- which is also my favorite way to dress in the summertime.
I hope you enjoyed reading my first article just as much I did creating it! Stay tuned for more!
