Hey Fashionistas/os! Happy New Year! My name is Jacquelyn Kaiser, and I am thrilled to be to be returning as a Style Guru for my fourth semester! I am a sophomore at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, where I am majoring in fashion merchandising with a concentration in promotion.
I love the fashion program at Marist, and it is exciting to be so close to the fashion capital of the world, New York City! I often visit the city for career events, and I hope to live and work there after graduation. Some of my other favorite NYC activities would include seeing Broadway shows, exploring museums, and going out to eat. I particularly enjoy the MET Museum, and I always love to look at the fashion exhibits there.
At Marist I am involved in many clubs and activities. I am the Vice President of Fashion Inc, and I am also a member of the Ethical Fashion Initiative and Campus Ministry! In my free time I love to exercise and attend fitness classes. Some of my favorites include Spin, Zumba and Pilates.
In regard to fashion, I like to stick with basic colors and clothing pieces and change up my style with accessories. In this look I chose to wear a black long sleeve turtleneck top and paired it with a statement necklace. The key to wearing a statement necklace is to balance it out by choosing simple, neutral colored pieces. I chose my go-to pair of dark skinny jeans and added a chic touch with these low heeled beige booties. I accessorized with aviator sunglasses, gold bangle bracelets, and a black purse. I have come to realize that utilizing accessories can really transform an ensemble. In the new year I would like to stick to basic pieces, and instead add detail with jewelry and other accessories.
Although I am not a big fan of the cold weather, I do love winter fashion, especially comfy sweaters and boots. I plan to capture these winter styles and more in my articles this semester. Be sure to read my first post for this January! Have a great semester!
