Hello everyone! My name is Jamila Gordon and I am a second-semester senior at Binghamton University. I am enjoying the final semester of my undergraduate career with a double major in psychology and music. My passion for fashion and photography comes from my love for art, creativity and self-expression. I have been a practicing photographer for about three years now and my favorite thing about it is capturing people and objects in their element. That is part of the reason I decided to join the CollegeFashionista team. This is my second semester interning for CollegeFashionista and I was immediately captured by the opportunity to document human art through fashion. Clothing and personal style is a great way to make oneself a walking piece of art because there is so much meaning behind what we choose to wear. I love getting to be apart of the journey and I feel that photographing Fashionistas/os is an intimate way of capturing their stories.
I was born in Brooklyn, New York and being surrounded by such beauty and versatility is what sparked my interest in pursuing photography. There are so many style-oriented individuals in the Metropolitan area and I needed to find a way to truly appreciate their stylistic characters. I haven’t been able to put my camera down ever since the first day I held one and taking photos of unique style is something that I have grown to love. My own personal style is a reflection of what I am feeling and it varies a lot of the time. I enjoy clothing that transcends time because I think bonding with other generations is such a fulfilling thing. During the cold months, I love bundling up in my parka and conquering the snow with my L.L.Bean boots! Throwing on a pair of leggings is always the best way for me to go out and chase my dreams in a comfortable way.
I am excited to share my love, passion and art with you all and I hope you enjoy my posts this semester!
