Hello there! My name is Janice Koo and this is my third season writing for CollegeFashionista. I just finished off my first year at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and phew, was it a blast! I am beyond excited to start my summer break and capture the newest trends this summer.
Born and raised in sunny California, I was in for a bit of a shock as I experienced my first year on the East Coast. Not only was the weather entirely different (especially in the winter), but I was able to recognize and gain influence from various style trends. Coming from Los Angeles County, I would best describe my style as chill, laid back and comfortable (especially in the summer heat!). My go-to outfit in the summer is my favorite pair of flip flops, a bright tank top and ripped boyfriend jeans. Going to college in Massachusetts has definitely had an effect on the way I dress. I have come to love the preppy style that is popular on the East Coast style as well as boots and thick infinity scarves. My style has now become a mixture of the two worlds I live in: a laid-back West Coast style with a sensible East Coast influence.
As a CollegeFashionista Style Guru for this upcoming summer, I will be working to share the unique diversity in fashion centered in Los Angeles County. With the LA County being home to a diversity of people, I am positive that not only I, but you as the reader, will be able to gain inspiration from the people I meet through this process. Be sure to check out my monthly articles for a peek at the latest summer fashions!
