Hey there, Fashionistas! My name is Jaqueline Pena and this is my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I am currently studying Fashion Merchandising at California State University and I plan to be a stylist one day.
I started sewing when I was 13 years old, but I didn’t realize I wanted to study fashion until my second year of college. Studying the business of fashion has opened my eyes to what an amazing and fast-paced industry it is. Fashion is a way to express and present yourself to the world without having to say a word. That is why I believe it is important to carefully assemble your outfit each day. You never know who you can randomly meet, and first impressions are important.
My style is always changing and I don’t believe I can fit into one category. I dress according to my mood. One day I could be wearing all-black, then the next day I’ll be wearing pastels and florals. My go-to outfit would be skinny jeans, a concert T-shirt and a pair of Converse. However, sometimes, I want to impress and that is when the Fashionista side of me comes out.
My biggest inspiration for fashion would be Los Angeles and all the wonderful things there are to do here. I love exploring all the areas of Los Angeles and I am fascinated by the many different kinds of people that live here. I believe that in Los Angeles, anyone can be a star and I plan on standing out in a city full of stars.
