STYLE GURU BIO: Jasmin Bogues

Hey there! My name is Jasmin Bogues, but feel free to call me Jaz or Jazzy. Raised in the small city (that most know based off from the University) of Syracuse. I’m also a senior at Syracuse University studying Fashion Design. I know this may seem a little cliche, but since I was a little girl I have always loved fashion. I have been surrounded by it since a young age from lovely mother; who also studied Fashion Design/Merchandising. From letting my wear my ridiculous outfits as a child, while encouraging me to stay true to myself and follow myself and always follow my dreams; I would say mother started it all for me!

When it comes to my personal style, I cannot categories it under one. With living in Syracuse it becomes hard to continue to stay stylish with the crazy weather changes, but other the years I have managed to adjust. With the result of not having just one particular style; though to me there is no such thing as one certain style that you should stick to anyway. Each person usually dresses themselves based off of how they feel the moment they wake up. I have always said this to friends and even customers when working: “Style is what you want it to be—if you love it wear it. All you need to have is confidence and everyone you interact with will love it just as much as you do.” I believe that the most interesting looks come from those who are forever changing their style. Myself for example, will one moment wear something that’s very athletic and comfortable, or you can see me in something thats very edgy and sexy, and sometimes I even mash the two styles together; it all just depends on my mood. Although through all of the changes, I always wear earth tone colors and black. Most importantly, I always shoot for comfort. That is what makes it “Jazz’s style”.

For this particular look, I was thinking of something comfortable yet still very cute and on trend. I took a simple heather navy sweater dress with striped hems, keeping warm with second hand denim jacket, accessorizing with vintage gold necklace and bracelet from my Grandmother. Tying it all together with one of my favorite pair of sneakers, the oatmeal fatigue Fenty x Puma Creepers.

Most importantly, the look wasn’t complete without a smile and a handful of confidence!
