Hello to all my fabulous Fashionitas/os and friends! My name is Jasmyne Wiley and I am currently a junior at California State University Long Beach, majoring in fashion merchandising. This is my very first time being a Style Guru intern. I am more than excited to start this journey and meet some amazing people!
Growing up in Fresno, California, I was one to always follow the current trends or try to wear brands that everyone considered to be up scale. For years, that’s what I thought being fashionable meant. Now that I’m older, I have realized how wrong I was and how fashion is more than just name brands and being able to follow current trends. I’ve grown to use fashion as a creative outlet to express the confidence of who I am rather than trying to reflect what someone else wants me to be and breaking the bank at the same time. Plus, most of us know the college life is the equivalent to living the budget life. As cheesy as it sounds, I’ve always wanted to make people feel confident with who they are when it comes to their style. Consequently, I’m hoping I can do that by majoring in fashion merchandising.
Whenever I’m asked a question about my style, it’s always a difficult one to answer because my style is constantly changing. I enjoy mixing and matching different styles together and seeing the outcome. My outfit for this post, I chose to wear one of my favorite striped T-shirts because it’s light, comfortable and classic. It can go with just about anything. In contrast, I picked out grey and white ombré jeans to pair with my striped T-shirt and olive green pieces to add some color into the mix. Accessorizing has always been my favorite part, because it can make an outfit really pop. To finish my look, I matched the gold statement necklace with my blue watch.
I’ve always wanted to share my love for fashion and I’m grateful for the opportunity to do so. I hope to gain a better understanding of fashion through other Fashionistas/os around and about, while simultaneously inspiring readers to try something new and out of their comfort zone. Let’s grow together and have an amazing semester!
