My name is Jenna Gulick and I’m proud to say this kicks off my second semester with CollegeFashionista! I first heard about CollegeFashionista my freshman year at UCLA and decided to apply before another year passed me by. I’m so glad I did because contributing to the site has enriched my style and professional confidence, making my second year one for the books. Since starting my internship last semester, I’ve landed a sportswriting job on campus and started negotiating sponsorship deals for the blog I co-founded. The fashion and editorial industries are competitive, but I firmly believe that experience is key. Thanks to stopping people on the street for CollegeFashionista, I’m unafraid of the word “no.” I feel capable of making connections, especially thanks to truly enthusiastic people. Positivity is contagious and great outfits deserve great rewards!
So, what’s my personal recipe for a great outfit? I love classic colors, mixed textures and statement necklaces like the awesome Urban Outfitters piece in this photo. The best part is that it costed nine dollars on sale and I never go a few days without it! I also love solid heels, whether they be stilettos or platform ankle boots. In fact, most of my friends hover around six feet tall. I’m only 5’4″, but they all believed I was closer to 5’7″! Score one for the shoes.
Most importantly, I believe in buying pieces that balance youth and timelessness. Chunky sweaters, perfect jeans and crisp white T-shirts never go out of style. Starbucks cups, fresh flowers from the market and my sweet Schnauzer mix are also forever the perfect accessories.
This semester, it’s my pleasure to highlight the best looks UCLA has to offer! Spot a brunette walking to campus in a tan felt hat and potentially precarious (but so worth it) heeled booties? It just might be me exploring the stylish city crowd.
